So I wasn’t looking for another project but sometimes they find you !
I spotted a split single cab one day, so obviously i got chatting to the owner about it and in the conversation I asked if it was for sale, there was a bit negotiation and a bit back and forth over the next couple months. A deal was struck and its now sitting in my garage.
After having a good look over it its very solid it does require a bit of welding but not down to rot more from unfinished resto work, but its only a couple bits like outriggers etc, I will replace the cab floor as its got a couple patches on it. The load bed needs doing with the correct panels but thats not an urgent job.
It did come with an engine sitting in the back im hoping to bring back to life.
Even tho it all worked, I decided to rewire the pick up, it has been rewired in the past but a lot is not the right size of cables and a lot of it was random colours, hard to trace + test !
I’ve ran almost all the cables in situ now so ill test it then pull it out and cover it with a loom cover braiding stuff and fix all the ends. I’ll refit it again once the cab floor is replaced.
So the loom was a bit of a job! But all done and test fitted. I’ve removed it in preparation for a bit of welding so while I’m waiting on panels I’ll get the loom wrapped and the ends all done.
I’ve also tried @keith 's method of rust removal using citric acid will let you know tge results in a couple days i guess!
I’ve also had a chance to get my rotisserie dug out the back of the lock up and then managed to rope im my mate Calvin to do some modifications to it for me. He even let me have a go with the plasma cutter !
And lastly I got a great wee surprise from @TheRustBug who made this for me!
Looks brilliant. I’ve been using bilt hamber deox c and it’s been working well- not cheap though. It apparently safe on other stuff as well so rubber etc remains unaffected. Not tried that yet though.
Well after a couple of weeks of getting distracted with other things back onto the pick up this weekend.
Removed the rest of interior, and made a start stripping the underside of pedals, beam, brake lines etc in prep for getting onto the welding.
Its definitely going to be easier than lying on the floor doing it upside down! !
