After a good old check over my steering issues are all in the box, getting my worn box reconditioned and should have it back within 10 days :-)). Thankfully the king pins, bearings, idler pin and ball joints are all good… Typically had to be the most expensive part to go wrong though! On the plus side the underside of the bus is rock solid!
Managed to pick up an ‘as new’ Propex heatsource 2000 from eBay for a good price. Going to make a start on removing the interior the fitting some flash tape insulation while the steering box is away getting reconditioned. Once the steerings sorted it’s interior rebuild time!
Got my reconditioned steering box back from t2d today and fitted it tonight, not had the bus out yet but the reduction in play at the steering wheel is massive! Still got the final adjustment to make but so far so good. :-))
Hopefully manage a short drive tomorrow biggrin.gif

Started fitting the flash tape insulation today with the help of Russell and Colin… Cheers guys! Makes a massive difference going with the ‘tap test’ which hopefully equates to a nice quiet ride. It does take quite a while to do but I recon the final result will be worth it.
It will be interesting to see how well it bonds to the roof in the heat of summer, if that ever happens…
It’s the cold you need to watch out for mate, the hotter it gets the more it’s sticks…Suppose this presents more of an issue in our grand Scottish climate. You should have a read through the thread on SSVC, there’s a guy who’s had it in his van for 4 years (including the roof) with no peeling off issues. I’ll find the link and post it…

Got the rear stripped out tonight ready for more flash tape. I’ve tried both types; Screw Fix own make and the 3M stuff, for me the 3M stuff is better, it seems to be a bit heavier. It takes AGES!! a heat gun is also essential.
