Hi folks. Still need to get used to using the forum, so thought I’d pop a thread up about my Herbie replica, that I can add to in future with updates. Got my 72 Bug in April 2022, from London. Since then it’s had a tonne of work to become a Herbie replica. I say replica, but I kinda prefer ‘tribute’ as the interior isn’t accurate to the films, along with a few other exterior bits for now- but I prefer it with my own stamps on it. Loads to mention been done to the car but most notably- before I got it it had a body restoration and was painted white- from its original blue, had a rebuilt engine fitted, and was fully rewired. Since I’ve had it it’s had new interior (Porsche 911 front seats), carpets, wheels and replica Goodyear Radial GT tyres, early wings and headlights, modified late decklid (soon to be replaced with an early one!), early Speedometer and mechanical fuel gauge, US spec ‘towel rail’ bumpers, new floorpans, new heater channels, twin Weber carbs, along with an engine bay tidy up, new Empi exhaust, and a Legacy ragtop sunroof kit installed. It’s been an absolute blast working on this car, and meeting loads of you guys at various meets and shows. I look forward to many more meets with Herbie with the club!
