Aircooled Motor

Slightly out of touch with values for used aircooled motors at the moment (well, about 20 years out of touch), so I’d appreciate some guidance.

One of my mates has found an engine in the workshop at his company, remembers it being taken out of a camper that was scrapped about a decade ago. I know very little else about it, so I’ve asked him for the engine code, how complete it is, etc. With no history on it at all, and having sat around for a good few years, how much value would there be in it? I don’t know if it could be made to run, but would there be value in the crankcase/crankshaft etc assuming they weren’t damaged/excessively worn?

For an unknown engine your probably looking at somewhere between £50 and £150. I have plenty of cranks, conrods etc for type 4 air cooled motors and can’t get rid of them. A complete motor is worth something as long as their is no end float. Leaky rocker covers etc are easy to sort but leaks from the crankshaft are a strip down job (usually). Others on the forum will know better than me though.
