(Also) new to the Fife area

Hi all,

I’ve just arrived in Kirkcaldy to start a new job. I have a 1970 Beetle, 1300, Mars red… just in case anyone has seen it around, as I have been in Fife for nearly 2 weeks and have not seen any other Beetles yet! (only the new shape)

After hauling me all the way from Milton Keynes, the car now has a couple of niggling mechanical problems which I need some help with. Can anyone suggest a decent garage in the Kirkcaldy area who would be worth approaching about this?

(I found a link to this forum from the Kingdom VW club site, and I’ll try and get to the next meeting.)

Many thanks for any suggestions.

Cheers for now

Geoff

Welcome to Bonny Scotland.

Our club blether is tonight at 8pm at the Flotterstone Inn. Pop along and discuss those niggles.

Cheers,

Bob

Thanks for the invite Bob. Unfortunately I don’t think 44hp will get me there in time tonight, but I am here for the long term and intend to get involved with the club scene at some level as I get settled.

My car is still soldiering on as a daily driver so I really need to find a garage in southern Fife who at least has the knowledge and patience to deal with basic work on an older car. Experience from Milton Keynes was that personal recommendation is the safest way to do this.

I saw my first air-cooled VW in Scotland earlier tonight… a smart looking bay-window. Apart from that, Kirkcaldy seems to be popular with the Max Power brigade in the evenings. A large convoy of beetles and buses keeping to the speed limit on the sea front would be a sight to behold.

Cheers for now

G’day Geoff. I’m the bloke that looks after the Kingdom Klub site (well sort of - nothing new of late). Ask at the next KK meeting about a local garage. Most of the guys do the work themselves but there is a garage in Burntisland that people go to for MOTs so the guy at leasts knows them. Can’t remember the exact name and contact details as I don’t tend to use them. I’m in near Dunfermline.

Welcome to Fife, Are you going to the Stirling meeting?

Hello, I work in Kirkcaldy and commute in my blue beetle about once a week (the golf’s day off), so will keep an eye out.

Hi everyone,
I’ll be at the Kingdom Klub meeting next Monday.
Hope to see you there.
Cheers for now
