My 1972 truck has a problem with the battery. Even though we have bought a new battery, if we don’t use the truck for a few days, the battery runs out and we have to use jump leads. Should I disconnect the leisure battery?

What I would do is undo both batteries for a couple of days then connect them up again. If the motor starts OK then you have something draining them.
You then have the job of checking the electrics to trace the fault.
