Hi, I seem to have bought the wrong oil pump for my 1973 1303. The back of the casing housing the non-driven gear fouls the 3 studs on the camshaft. The pump was described as Beetle 1971 onwards, JustKampers part no. J10401. The camshaft has 3 what look like 8mm bolts (13mm hex head). Just to make matters worse I found that one of the threaded holes in the engine had been stripped so I have fitted a helicoil! Any suggestions for the correct pump? Thanks!
Is the engine original to the car ?
The engine number on the block seems to be of the same year as the VIN so is probably the original block.

I’d maybe go back to where you got it and just confirm engine number is suitable with part no.
