heya folks, i need to adjust my cam timing, it is a little advanced (funny wee ticky/tappy noise) anyway does anyone know where i could find all the info needed to setup the timing correctly. I have a newman 268 profile cam. would the manufacturer be able to give me all the needed info? or is there an easier way?
Set it straight up to begin with (not advanced or retarded). After that you need a rolling road to evaluate any changes.
The easiest way is to set the cam so that the lift on the inlet and exhaust valves is equal at TDC. This will give you a neutral setting. To do it you need a dial guage and stand, they are pretty cheap at a show (accuracy will be good enough).
measure at the valve tho not the cam.
I go into detail if anyone asks.
Cheers, Bruce.
cheers bruce mate, well it was setup matching the TDC etc etc, well i thought it was but it is a little advanced. i have contacted the cam supplier and i have the timing info, i will just try and set it up again according to this and if i have no success i will just get a pro to do it!
you can go into detail if you want mate :o)
