Combined Blether

So was the combined blether Combined? I.e. did any of the KVDK turn up. I would have liked to come except the trip from Croydon would have been a killer.

Ahh just saw from another post that the turnout from the KVDK was approximately none (when you consider Alex is much more active in the Lothians). Oh well so much for that then. Do you guys want to keep it going or not? give it one more try? If it was on a Monday or Friday you’d have at least 1 active KVDK member. Man does the KVDK have issues just now - Theres a real apathy. Outside of the core committee and a couple of ring in’s like me nobody seems to take part. :o(

Sorry I didn’t make the last meeting (was working) & the combined blether, I was over in Glasgow seeing my wee bro as I’ve just become an uncle. I did tell him to keep her legs closed for a few hours but apparently he was to where to go! :rasp

Don’t take it as apathy, necessarily. I’ll be at every blether/cruise as soon as my Bus is back on the road… but that’s probably still a couple of months away.

I’d feel a bit stupid turning up in my daily driver as it’s not even a VW. :o

Its about MORE than just the car you’re in.
Turn up whatever the wheels!

…so you can point and laugh… :rasp

I agree. The KVDK meetings actually have very few old VWs turn up. The meetings themselves are pretty well attended. Usually 20 - 30 folk and around 6 or 8 VWs in the carpark. Turn up in whatever.

Thats what paper bags are for!

You can always park in the lower carpark @ the Flott, no one will see what it is.

:stuck_out_tongue:

What IS it, btw?!?!

Well, I didn’t want to be first to post after Wednesday, then I had a night of stand-by out in the Forth, but after reading everyone elses comments - nowt to get too worried about really folks!
Yes, it’s very disappointing the other Fifers don’t attend, especially as Rob has done sh*tloads to help them get out more, in person and online, but all Clubs have a lean phase now and then…
All I can say is - those that make the effort to attend these events usually enjoy themselves by bringing the spirit of camaraderie that keeps the scene alive. That was the case at Queensferry - another chance to socialise on a decent summer evening, see at least two members new projects (Bob’s Van & Geoff’s Bug), talk tech and trade parts (whole cars even - the £50 Passat’s still going strong!)
I’ll be there next month too I hope - maybe not with V-Dub wheels either! I’m seriously considering oiling the old 15-geared thing that passes for a budget mountain bike and pedalling along so I can partake in just a few more Deuchars. If a few more Fifers with Vans turn up - I might even get a lift up the hill and back over the bridge before heading west at Rosyth…

Before any pedants tell me you can still be done for being drunk in charge of a cycle - I know - get a life for heaven’s sake - it’s just a few Deuchars…

Don’t get me wrong, it’s a lovely car, it’s just not a VW. It’s German, though, so that must count for something. Probably.

was still nice to get the bug out and have a run down to queensferry,im up for keeping it going and any other excuse to go to the pub you can think off?
