cunning camper cool box question

hi all.
I bought a '76 bay from swden in sept, and i have plans for setting it up for a summer trip. I want to be able to keep my beer (and some food) cool. I took apart an electric cool box, and saw it uses a peltier and two heatsinks to remove heat from the box. My question is, has anyone tried making a cooler for their van using a peltier, and will this allow me to cool stuff without draining my battery? I was planning on fitting this to a cupbord on the floor, so i could have the external heat sink going through my floor.

By the way, still selling my unfinished beetle. i have almost a complete car, but the van has taken over from the beetle as my project. I have sloping headlights, glass, fibreglass rear wings, koni shocks, engine bay repair sections (unused) and a rolling chassis with new floor pans. I also have the engine and gearbox.

email me with any ideas about cooling, or if you are interested in my beetle bits.

P.S. Hi Nick

Beetle got sold. Very pleased to have all the space in the garage
