need advice please have seen a 1969 beetle but seemingly it has sat for a while it broke down on their way home the engine was making a knocking sound then stopped the owner called aa and they said it had a major oil leak,but to me it sounds as if the engine has blown what do you think is it worth buying if i get it for the right price :think
tricky one really, replacement engines second hand can be around the £200 mark which isnt too bad or you can go the new engine route for around £800 (i think). if the bug is in good general condition and the price is right bearing in mind you still have to add price of engine plus fitting (unless diy) then it may be a good buy.
it looks in mint condition brand new interior just the engine,fitting it isnt a prob my other halfs a mechanic but just dont want to pay over what its worth really
well in that case it shouldnt be a problem. give it a good check over make sure there are no other faults. ie brakes etc as you wont be able to do a test drive.
