Well I did it. I swapped my RHD 2.1 Syncro for the 2.9 VR6 powered Syncro. Boy am I pleased. I drove all the way to Penzance in Cornwall on Wednesday night/Thursday morning and back again yesterday. The folk I swapped with are chuffed as well. The guy I swapped with would have been happy with the VR6 beast but his wife wasn’t. Too high and aggressive. I kept a tab on petrol consumption and amazingly the VR6 was slightly better on fuel than the 2.1. Mind you that’s all a bit academic as they are both still rubbish at roughly 19/20 mpg.
The interior in the beast is no where near as well finished as the white van but is more practical for us. Someone put carpet on the ceiling and it doesn’t work real well. Too thick. The lining on the pop top needs a good clean. It also has an open fuse box on in the rear bed locker that I will need to make a cover for.
It has stacks of power and just wants to go. I love it.
