We got a Groupon deal for a nights dinner bed and breakfast at Turnberry on the West coast. Lovely place but bloody expensive. A small tin of shortbread £10, cheapest glass of white at dinner was £7.50 and it wasn’t anything special. The deal included dinner to the value of £90 for two. They charge £45 per head for a 3 course meal where half the things on the menu had a £5 surcharge. I had Scallops and pork belly for my starter which had the £5 surcharge. I am guessing it worked at at about £4 per mouthful. Rich people really are stupid if they pay prices like that all the time.
I have done it now and will be looking to stay in normal peoples hotels from now on. Well at least until I win the Euro millions.
Yeah I know. We came down for breakfast and was greeted by one of the kilted porters at the bottom of the staircase and escorted us down the long corridor to the restaurant. He then introduced us. To some people I guess it makes them feel special. I just think they could get rid of him and knock a bit off the bill. Kind of missed the point on me I guess.
I guess most of us camper van folk are the same. We’re happy sitting in a small box on wheels, cooking beans on a gas burner and cr@pping in a bucket (well porta potties are just a custom designed bucket after all).
