Hi Folks Need some help With this one. Went round to give Rustmonster hand changing door glass and trim on his bay, to fit to his rustfree late door from vw relics. Stripped out regulator, but captive nut at bottom was just turning on quarter. No problem says i, cut outer skin off to allow moles to grip it, door’s competely rotten anyway. Job done, everthing removed without damage. Happydays. Got new door he’d spent ages sanding and painting, nice job too.
No way, Wrong door. The donuts had sent him 2 early doors and too make it worse, one has popup lock and other lever lock. This really annoys me getting the wrong stuff, but also my fault as i should have checked. You tend to take it on faith when your told that the wright stuff is what they have sent. I this case he did, and as a result has had them for about a year before fitting them, as a newbie there was no way for him to tell. No chance of a refund, not to mention the waste of paint and time, and cost of mismatched early doors.
To cut a long story short, were looking for a 79 bay door rotten or not, passengers side to fill hole left, untill he can afford a replacement good one. It’s the one without the countersunk holes on the hinges and small return check mechanism. Please help as i can’t help feeling responsible for this fiasco, any scabby door will do as he can’t drive his van with a polythene one. :rs :rs :rs axe.gif
Not your fault Jim! I should have tried one of them before painting. Thanks for the help today though, it has taken up your time as well.

Status sells a kit for £14.50 that includes a conversion plate for the door check, might save me a bit hassle?

Aye might do if i hadn’t cut the old hinges to make adapter plates. I going straight to Hell for that one :rs. Dya think the spacers are for either side of the return check pin as the mechanism arm is different?

She only let Her fall asleep at 4pm, great i say, end to the perfect day. Just put her down 9.45, might make dinner now, but mother hubard. She sure picks her nites to go owt. text for chips on way home, can only hope she reads it. However wee one was very happy watching tv with me. smiles worth a million.

Would they fit a 75 bay if so I may be able to help soften the blow as both my doors are a bit shoddy.

The ones on the new door are fine, posibly with the kit. If the new doors had the old hinges, their’d be nae prob. but offset looked different as well as hole spacing. Does the kit come with Distuctions for fitting for STOOPID me :lol:

Jim, daft idea - wondered if I could use a conversion kit with the hinges from the drivers door. This would give me a passenger door and I could just temporary keep the drivers door closed and fixed in with a bit wood across the back until I manage to get replacement hinges. It depends if the hinges are sided though, hope you can just turn them upside down and use them with the kit. It might get me mobile again?
Any thoughts?
