A friend needed to clear out his garage quickly, and offered me a wee collection of useful spares if I would help him store and sell his engine eventually.
It’s a complete stock c.2000 model 1600cc air-cooled Type 1 with all the fuel injection gubbins inc. ECU, wiring loom, fuse box, high pressure fuel pump and return lines, but no exhaust system, heat exchangers or catalyst.
When considering an exhaust, it will probably require a lambda sensor for the ECU (unless this can be bypassed), but I can supply good used VW stock heat exchangers if required.
I’m told it has only covered about 90 miles since fitted to his 60’s Bug 10 years ago, worked perfectly, then his situation changed and the Bug was sold without the engine. It has been in dry storage under wraps since.
Obviously it is in ‘as new’ condition, but will need a full engine flush and oil, filter & plug change at least! Best factor in things like a full injector flush or replacement too, as I’m not familiar with the new technology to make a fair assessment of how long term storage affects these components.
