My resto' project.....

I will now attempt to add some photos…be patient.

Edited and Pics added.

Nice to meet you on Saturday
Keep the pics coming gona be a good project

Thanks Jigs, I will try to figure out the way to reduce the pics before loading them up. I will post pics as it progresses, it needs quite a bit of work.

It’s easier hosting them with photobucket or similar then posting from there.

Right folks. I have now purchased rear inner wings, front nose, floorpans and both heater channels. I bought the heater channels, nose and inner rear wings off ebay. They had all been fitted to another car then cut off. All good as new. Hopefully will start fitting them in the next few weeks, I will arrange a week off from work and get stuck in. Photos to follow.

Oh, I forgot, new lower door repair and 1/4 panels too. dancinnanagif.gif

I have found that the car must have suffered a rear end shunt as the r/n/side lower mount of the anti-roll bar was bent. Replacement brackets in the post. The engine cover gap is not right on that side too but will be sorted when I replace the inner wings.

Doh, The car has not suffered from a rear end shunt. I purchased replacement lower mounts for the rear anti-roll bar. The lower mounts are supposed to be different as the nearside drop link faces backwards and the offside drop link faces forward, giving them different angles on the brackets. You learn something new most days… but, where is the chassis plate on a Beetle?

Chassis number is on tunnel under back seat there should also be a plate in spare wheel well area

I am absolutely lovin’ these axles and wheels you have on that bug. Never seen that set up before. Difficult to lower the car with that set up. Great for camping tho’ with all that water storage on the front axle and long range tank on the back for those desert crossings.

Don’t know what the suspension will be like over the bumps though. I guess braking is drums all round? Hard to get discs on there.

Good one! It is a bit of a “Flintstone” floor type too.

Both sides of the floorpans cut out and new floors welded in. Dropped the gearbox oil (engine already out) and disconnected. Gearbox removal tomorrow night, if I have the energy.

Keep up the good work. See it driving in the spring?

Hopefully before the Spring. I still have a weeks holidays to take and hope to get in about it, the bodywork at least.

Gearbox now removed. May separate the driveshafts tonight.

Driveshafts separated from the gearbox and torsion bar donuts removed. Making a list of parts required for the rebuild.

Just spent about a grand on parts in the last week, mostly from Machine7 with their black Friday deals. Looking at the box of bits last night and thought “is this really worth all that money?” It will be worth it when I get this bad boy back on the road where he belongs.

Just driving it for the first time will be the db’s
