Navigational rally 2009

For those of you that enjoyed last years event and for those keen to take part in this years event I can tell you that I’m just putting together the final details of the event that will be held on Sun 14 June. As last year it will start and finish from the Flotterstone Inn and last approximately an hour. The event will start prompt at 1pm, so you need to get there at least 15mins beforehand for instructions. Each participant will be given a map, and a set of basic instructions 1 minute before you start. Please bring a pen and a stop watch. A working mileometer is a distinct advantage. You will have to complete the route by maintaining an average speed of 30mph. Along the route you will have to spot certain signs and record details to prove you have completed the route. If you fail to spot one, you will receive a healthy time penalty of 5 minutes! If you finish early you will receive a significnat penalty (x3), ie 1 minute = 3 minutes added, 5 mins early =15 mins added. Having just done the route I will be seriously impressed if anyone can do it on time. The route is challenging with lots of new sections and junctions. Good luck and I hope you enjoy it. Can the club, come up with a bottle for the winner this year? The top three should receive points, and hopefully Alex can do one in Fife in Sept. This will enable 2 rounds to be held, with the overall winner getting the driver of the year trophy.
