Petrol pipe - which way round

While I’m swapping the engine on my Bay, I’m planning to fit the correct, rigid fuel pipe - at present it has a flexible hose all the way from the tank to the carb; I had to tie it away from the exhaust (!), and it’s too thick to go through the correct hole in the tinware behind the engine so it runs through the gap where the foam seal ought to be. Hence my plan to replace it with the correct part.

My question is: which way round should the rigid pipe go? It has about four bends in it, and is asymmetric, but I don’t know which end ought to go to the tank and which to the carb. Okay so it probably only fits one way, but I imagine it’d save a lot of trial-and-error faffing if someone knows how to tell the tank end from the carb end.

Cheers!
