shocks for lowered cars

On the off chance that someone is interested. My current project beetle, is running Koni shocks all round, standard length. I discovered yesterday with the front ones, that there is a packer in the top half of the shock. Its purpose is to restrict movement of the shock to match a stock one. If you remove it you get another 2.5inchs of travel for free. Handy If your looking to do a minor lowering job with adjusters. Also at rest, the shock has about two inches travel either way. This is what you should aim for when lowering a bug to ensure a reasonable ride. The alternative of course is to fit dropped spindles, but this results in the usual increase in track problem.
